In 1629 he has accused Eric Eriksson in Gransjö of witchcraft and also beaten him so he has got a bruise. On the same district-court sessions his maid is accused of having bitten the maid of the neighbour. That results in a blood-stained hand. She is fined 3 marks. In 1636 Per is also called to the district-court sessions after having accused the wife of his vicar Mr Elias to have taken customs salt from Finn Giärtru. For this salt the wife of Mr Elias has given an inch broad linen and two head cloths. Per has also accused Mr Elias of allowing Finn Giärtru to cure both man and beast. But Per could not prove his accusations and he then had to withdraw them. He confessed that he felt envious of his vicar because he did not get the Eucharist. Per was fined 40 marks. Sources: Mohlund, Helgum 1, page 379-380 The ancestors of Skogsjö, number 3589 Go to the descendant chart The maid Barbro from Ramsele reports on the sessions 1634 for the district-court area of Resele and Ramsele that the wife Sara from Ås in the parish of Helgum is a skilled witch and that she has had two bäror (= a demonical spirit who draws wealth to the owner). Sara confessed to the crime. Later during the big processes of witchcraft it happened that evil persons out of revenge charged enemies for witchcraft. One example is given here. Sara from Ås charged, because of envy, Märit from Degernäs to use witchcraft and lövjeri (= preparation of medicine by a witch). At the county council Sara, however, withdrew the accusations and said that she neither could nor wanted to prove the accusations. Märit was by the district-court session find not guilty and nobody should under penalty of law be allowed to reproach or accuse Märit. 6886 Påll Pedersson. He belongs to the fänika (1 fänika = 2-300 soldiers) of Pehr Joensson. Probably he died in the battle of Kirkholm in Poland 1605. The widow Karin is later found off and on. The last year is 1617. Eric Persson is noted off and on in the registers. In 1596 he gives as tithes 1 fjärding (18,4 litres) barley. At the inventory for help taxes in 1601 he declares that he uses 1 1/2 tunna (1 tunna = 147 litres) in sowing and that he has 3 cows. His wife pays 2 daler to the ransom of Älfsborg. Eric Persson has, according to a stage register 1605, an old blind clergyman, named Mr Peder, as part-owner of the farm. Child:

The years 1617-1618, 1621 and 1623 he was noted as farmer in Nordanåker in the parish of Edsele. He was alive 27th of November 1630. According to a register in 1627 he was "Blijnn" (blind). Olof Håkansson was 1630 in quarrel with Elias, the clergyman in Edsele, who often in found in the reports of the proceedings of the district-court sessions. Elias had beaten Olof so there was bloodshed when Elias once wanted to go over the river with his horse and he thought that Olof did not wanted to help him because he maid hay on Sunday evening. Bertil Johnson, Familj E 18 Go to the descendant chart Erik Nilsson is for the first time mentioned in 1641 together with Lars Nilsson (ID 2122) and Erik Eriksson at the registration of a mill-duty. In the year 1643 these three are noted as "The settlers at Tåsjön" At an inspection for tax registration in 1646 are noted the Finns living in Tåsjö. Among other ones are mentioned Erik Nilsson and his two sons Nils and Abraham Nilsson. As time went on the families living in the Finnish crofter's holdings were too big as regards the area of the farms. Several inspections were done. Those who had too many lodgers in the farms had to pay 40 marks for each person above the allowed number. The second time they were shown to have to many lodgers they ran the risk "of being hanged". At an inspection in 1656 concerning the number of lodgers in the Finnish crofter's holdings was noted that Erik Nilsson who had a crofter's holding of 4 seland (1 seland = about 3500 square metres) had 7 persons living in his house, namely he and his wife, one son with wife, two other sons and one daughter (unmarried). Because of the high age of Erik Nilsson it was decided that the married son with wife and the daughter could stay on the crofter's holding. The two unmarried sons should however be soldier.
