Gothe writes the following tradition:
"Erik Jonsson had a brother Matts Jonsson, who was evil to his wife. The popular legend says that he has burnt up his wife in Gammelbodarna at Näxås road." A notice from the court in 1669 concerns probably the same episode. The following is written: "The Finn Erik Jonsson, who lives in Krånge, complains about his brother Mats, that he does not agree with his wife but that he has quarrel and gets into disputes with her. Last summer he threatened to burn up the farm with his wife and the children, which also happened. The lay assessors in Ström have to part the brothers and drive away Mats." According to the tradition this should be valid for the first settling at Näxåsen-Hullkasåsen, which later on was leaved.

In the register of the parish catechetical meeting in 1673 are noted besides Erik Jonsson and his family also 3 other persons namely Mats Jonson, Jöran Mattson and another person. Mats Jonsson may be the troublesome brother of Erik and Jöran Mattsson could be the son of Mats. It seems to be Jöran Mattsson who in 1680 byes one of the two farms in Äspnäs.

Georg Hansson is however uncertain about the statement that Jöran Mattson is the son of Erik Jonssons brother Mats

The purchase of the farm by Pål Pålsson is shown in the following decision of the court (Judgement Book 1647 17/2):

"It was decided that Påwel Pålsson should get the legal ratification of the following lands in the same village. From Pedher Mattsson he has bought 4 seland (1 sel = about 3500 square metres) and for this he pays 20 daler kmt. Matts Pålsson, the brother of Pål Pålsson has in christening gift given his brother 1 1/2 seland in Agnäs and Pål has given his brother Matts 3 lod (1 lod = 13 gram) of silver and 1 Riksdaler as a gift in return. Pål has also from his parents inherited or from his sisters bought 2 1/2 seland. Totally Pål therefore has 8 seland land in Agnäs"

Since Pål Pålsson and Matts Pålsson (ID 1384), compared with the other brothers and sisters, have had big problems at home in the farm after the death of their parents, it was decided in 1649 that they, before the distribution of the estate, should get in advance the harvest from 4 tunnor (1 tunna = 147 liters) of rye that they have sowed after the death of their parents (The Judgement Book 1649 17/2 § 7).

The count sheriff should in 1649 just after the eve of May Day examine the burn-beat that the Finn Lars Olofsson in Brattsbacka complained that Pål Pålsson in Agnäs had cut on the forest belonging to Brattsbacka and Bergsjö (the Judgement Book 1649 19/11 § 8). We know nothing about the result. Probably they came to an agreement. Both farmers hade probably accompanied each other from Viksjö to the new district.

That Matts Olofsson is a Finn is obviously stated. But it is not clear from where he comes. Much indicates, however, that he is a son of the Finn Olof Mattsson. Matts was the first settler Finn that in 1674 moved to Mjösjön; "the Mjösjöman".

After an inventory of some new farms which is found in the Judgement Book of Nordmaling in the 4th of November 1681 the following is written:
"Mjösjön, Matts Olofsson, as with permission since 1674 lives at Mjösjön on the common land of the Crown, without any prejudice to the neighbours, can stay there. As the years free of tax are finished, the farm was, according to a decision by the district court, taxable for one quarter of a farm and had to pay tax to Nordmaling with a start in 1682. The borders of the farm has to be marked as soon as possible, so that the farmer does not uses the common land outside the farm for arable and pasture land, forest or fishing grounds. This is given to the His Excellency the Governor with a request of ratification."

Matts Olofsson has probably been married twice. In the second marriage the name of the wife is Karin Mattsdotter. She is probably considerably younger than her husband. In the register of population in 1690 are noted one adult son and two daughters. In the register of lands for 1692 is the farm noted as 6 seland (1 sel = about 3500 square metres) in tax

They had the following children according to Tyko Lundqvist:
• Matts Mattsson, b. about 1660 (ID 700), Mjösjö, married with Karin Hansdotter (ID 701)
• Kerstin Mattsdotter
• Isak Mattsson, b. about 1670 Mjösjö – Gamla Nordsjö – Örträsk.
• Maria Matsdotter b. 1682 married with Mårten Mårtensson b. 1682, Rusele

Matts Olofsson lived to at least 1704. Ha probably died soon after that. But he is not noted in the Burial book of Nordmaling. Tyko Lundkvist guesses that he was buried at home on his neck of land because of the long and trackless road to the church of Nordmaling, more than five mils (= about 30 miles) distant.

Thord Bylund gives the children who are shown below.

Children:
700 i. Mats, X:189 (1660-1720)
ii. Isak
iii. Maria

1404 Johan Eriksson. (Same as ahnentafel number 690.)

Lars Andersson was farmer on Rudsjö number 1 in Fjällsjö.
In the year 1695 he reported his two sons-in-law Mats and Anders for poaching!
The same year Lars Andersson proposed that his son-in-law Mats should take over his farm, which also happened, though Samuel, the son of Lars, also wanted to get the farm. Lars still lived in 1697 and was then 80 years old.

Lars married Elisabet, XI:384.

They had the following children:

Nils Heljesson was probably the son to Helje Gregersson (TL 1600). Nils was farmer on number 2 in Grelsgård after his father from before 1611 until his death. The wife is mentioned as widow 1643 and 1645. She remarried to Per Andersson, who is the user of the farm from 1646 to 1658. The son Grels Nilsson overtook the farm in 1659.

Nils married Ragärd, XI:480.

They had the following children:
i. Grels (1626-1699)
751 ii. Märeta, X:240 (1628-)
