From a Fan Chart one gets a good opinion of how great share is known of the total possible number of ancestors within a given number of generations.
In the first small fan chart one gets a visual apprehension of the number of known ancestors. In the second great fan chart one can also read the names of the ancestors. The 498 ancestors who are shown in the fan chart includes only 21 % of the totally known 2347 ancestors. But at the same time one has to notice that we have a great number of loss of ancestors in the descendant chart, that is persons who are found on more than one place in the chart. This fact is more thoroughly treated in the section loss of ancestors. 160 of the 498 persons in the fan chart are loss of ancestors. The real number of individuals in the fan chart is therefore only 338. |
